BLADELESS LASIK
Even though PRK process started a decade ago but to correct vision most of the people think about LASIK surgery. Now people prefer it is as it saves money and is accurate because of the advancement of bladeless LASIK
Blade-Free LASIK Procedure
LASIK surgery can be divided into two parts. First a flap is made on the surface of the cornea, the outmost part of the eye, then the hinged flap is lifted away and a laser known as an excimer laser is used for removing tissue from the exposed cornea. Reshaping the cornea and the changed way light enters the eye and focuses on the retina. LASIK surgery can is also helpful in correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
Blade free lasik surgery differs from lasik in the way that flap is created. In LASIK, the flap is made with a microkeratome and in bladeless LASIK it is made with a femtosecond laser. The first femtosecond laser on the market was IntraLase, so you may see that term associated with bladeless LASIK.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Blade-free LASK is becoming very popular because it allows for more precise flap creation and there is less risk of complications. There may be a lower risk of a buttonhole flap because the flap is created with a femtosecond laser in place of a microkeratome and also there is less possibility of infection. Those who cannot go for LASIK due to thin cornea can now think of Blade-free LASiK due to greater precision of the femtosecond laser. The disadvantage of blade-free method is that the higher rate of light sensitivity is usually a temporary condition.
Cost of LASIK
The cost of lasik varies from place to place. The average cost is $1,500 to $3,000 per eye. Generally you have to pay more for advance technology. The lasik with microkeratome usually costs less in comparison to blade-free LASIK. LASEK, PRK or Epi-LASIK others vision method cost same.
Some companies advertise about cheap lasik but you should not fall their trap and should not comprise with the health of your eye.
